The creative team behind Barrafina, Quo Vadis and the runaway success of El Pastor have exclusively launched Pastorcito at Arcade Food Theatre.
Pastorcito draws much of its inspiration from the market taquerias of Mexico, enjoyed by El Pastor’s founders, Sam and James Hart and Crispin Somerville, during their combined 15 years of living in Mexico City and many travels around the country.
“Our time in Mexico was largely spent eating tacos in markets, where the best ones were often to be found, and the relaxed, welcoming and sociable feeling in them was always an added bonus. Arcade offers a comparable context in London, where they’ve curated a diverse mix of open kitchens and bars that we’re really excited to be included amongst.” – Crispin Somerville
At the heart of the Pastorcito menu is El Pastor’s focus on Mexican heirloom corn, which they use in their housemade tortillas and all tacos served. Amongst these will be the signature Al Pastor Taco, with 24 hour marinated pork shoulder, caramelised pineapple, guacamole taquero, white onion & coriander; Baja Fish Taco with Corona-battered sea bass, shredded cabbage and pico de gallo; and Short Rib Tacos with chipotle-muscovado coriander seed spice rub, pickled red onion and La Maya salsa. The team has also introduced a new vegetarian taco with fresh peas, charred corn, jalapeño and Mexican oregano.
Also available for the first time at Arcade are the Super Gringa – Mexico City market-style ‘wraps without rice’ made with a white flour tortilla, carne pastor, pineapple and Oaxaca cheese. Don’t worry veggies - there’s a veggie version too with peas, corn and Mexican oregano.
